CHANGES TO THE MUSICAL THEATRE 2021 SYLLABUS

We have had to cancel some classes and I am afraid this includes Musical Theatre Group classes. We feel it is unlikely in the short term that restrictions on large groups will be lifted and most certainly the numbers generated by such a gathering, plus attending audience would be unmanageable in the performance spaces we have available to us.

Solo and Duos will run as usual.

We will be accepting entries in the order they are completed from December 2020. Entries will deem to be completed on receipt of fee. Entries will close on 20th Jan but should we reach capacity in any class before that date we will post an update, so please watch this page.

We accept that depending on restrictions at the time, this may become a virtual festival with performances posted online.

We hope whether it is Live or Virtual to continue to keep the spirit of Festival buoyant and provide a positive experience for all entrants

The Festival acknowledges the current interest in Musical Theatre In 2011 we introduced a whole new range of classes allowing performers to showcase their talents across the three disciplines of Drama, Song and Dance. Now in our 9th year the section is going from strength to strength.

We hope that by providing a Festival platform for individuals and groups to have their work professionally adjudicated that we are addressing the increasing expectation of Examination Boards and Drama schools for all-round performers.

Equally, for those concerned with performance solely as a leisure activity, it is always useful to have some constructive advice on how to build and improve their skills.

Because we think that the performance itself is the most important aspect of any presentation we strongly recommend that entrants use only the minimum of props and a suggestion of costume.
