What Competitors Need to Know
BEFORE YOU ENTER
The Festival is for amateur performers, unless a class states otherwise.
Check that you have entered the correct class and meet all age and eligibility requirements.
Entries must be submitted by the published closing date.
By entering, you agree to follow the Festival’s rules and its Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Creating Safer Festivals for Everyone policies.
Please tell the Entry Secretary about any disability or additional support needs when you enter, so reasonable adjustments can be considered.
For children and vulnerable adults, all required safeguarding permissions and consents must be in place.
PAYMENT
Your entry is only confirmed and activated when full payment has been received.
Payment can be made by card, bank transfer or cheque, as instructed by the Festival.
Please pay by the published payment deadline. Unpaid entries may be withdrawn.
Your Confirmation of Entry is also your invoice.
IF YOU NEED TO WITHDRAW
Tell the relevant Entry Secretary as soon as possible.
Withdrawals before the closing date may be eligible for a refund, normally subject to a £0.50 administration charge.
Entry fees are normally non-refundable after the closing date.
If the Festival cancels a class, your entry fee will be refunded in full.
ON THE DAY
Your class time and venue will normally be emailed to you at least one week before the Festival.
Report to the Door Steward when you arrive.
Be ready to perform in the published running order.
If you miss your performance time, you may be offered a later opportunity, at the Adjudicator’s discretion.
Tell the Entry Secretary about any known timetable clashes as early as possible.
DURING PERFORMANCES
Please help us create a respectful and enjoyable Festival for everyone.
Do not enter or leave the performance room while someone is performing.
Do not disrupt performances.
Competitors, parents, teachers and audience members are expected to behave respectfully.
Serious or repeated disruption may result in removal from the venue or disqualification.
Do not communicate directly with the Adjudicator during classes. Speak through the Adjudicator’s Steward instead.
PHOTOGRAPHY & RECORDING
📵 No photography, video or audio recording is permitted during performances or adjudications unless specifically authorised by the Festival.
This is important for copyright and safeguarding.
AFTER YOUR CLASS
Written adjudications and certificates will normally be available after your class.
Collection arrangements vary between disciplines.
Speech & Drama winners may be invited to perform at a Festival Concert.
Trophies are awarded at the Adjudicator’s discretion and remain the property of the Festival.
PLEASE REMEMBER
The Festival cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged personal belongings.
If you have a complaint, comment or suggestion, please put it in writing to the Festival Chair within 14 days of the final day of the Festival.
